Well, it is almost my birthday. I will be turning 40 on May 13th this year. I know the big 40 is a big birthday for most people but for me it is huge. By the time I had turned 30, I had lost my left leg to cancer and had shattered my left knee and femur. I had been married for a little over 3 years to My Man, so my for goals for the next 10 years were simple:
- Be Alive
- Have 2 children
- Have my original knee
Well, I am happy to say, I am alive (knock on wood!), I have my original knee (it has issues but it is still working) and I have The Boy. The plan was to have two children but shit happens. In my case, two more cancer diagnoses. Sometimes, I wish we had our little girl Poppy but The Boy is such a joy. I love it being the three of us, My Boys.
My Man knows how big turning the 40 is to me, so he is planning a trip for the two of us. He had a Plan A that did not pan out but that is ok. We will go to the French Laundry soon. You can bet on that!
So last Saturday he asked me “where do you want to go”? Ideas were thrown out, New Orleans, NYC, Montreal… In the end, after Justin spoke to a friend of his, we picked Quebec City, Quebec. We are going in June, so Nana Pete and Papa can come over and take care of The Boy.
We are staying at Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. I have read and our friends who have been there agree, that Quebec City, it is the most European City in North America. I can’t wait. My Man has looked up restaurant’s for us to check out. I have been looking at their websites and can’t help but get hungry. The food looks so good. We are going to make our reservations this weekend.
If any of you have been to Quebec City and have some favorite places to see, do or eat, let me know. I will of course keep you update and will take lots of photo’s when we go.
