So since it was so nice out on Monday and the boy was out for Spring Break, My Man and I decided to go down to one of our favorite mexican places for dinner. This was a perfect place for me to go since it was Meatless Monday. They have a lot of veggie and fish options to choose from.
We started out with chips and guacamole. We thought this would be a “healthier” choice then the queso dip (which is also very yummy). I ate to many chips. I was so hungry by the time we got there (stuck in ATL traffic) I just couldn’t stop eating them. Plus the guacamole is really good…and healthy!
For dinner I ordered the Abichuelas Sopes and the Poco Chihuahua Enchiladas. I had never had the enchilada before and it was very good. I will get it again. Two items to also check out is the Ceviche and Betabel Salad.
The vibe at Bone Garden is very funky. If you do not like skulls or tattoos, this place is not for you. If you want “real” mexican food, a fun vibe and great service, go check it out. Tell them My Hotel Yorba sent you!

We have eaten at Local Three a few times now. Since my parents were in town for the Easter weekend we thought we would take them their to check it out. Like us, they love a good meal. I love the vibe. The food is really good and inventive. This is the type of place where being a waiter isn’t just a job but a career. You could tell that our waiter , Ken, not only loved working there but he was also very passionate about the food. He knew where they got the mushrooms from, where they grew the lettuce (in a warehouse in downtown ATL) and the farms where they got their berries from. Plus, they play good music and have paintings of “The Dude” and pigs all over the place. I told my parents they did not need to dress up too much. The waiters all wear jeans and have tattoos. Of course my Dad said “Our waiter doesn’t have any tattoos!” Ken preceded to lift his sleeve up and show off some of his tats! HA!
First came the Snacks. The thing to know about Local Three’s menu is that if something is in quotes, you better ask for a description of the item. Justin and I started out with the Royal with Cheese. The first time we came here and ordered it we thought we would be getting a mini hamburger. Yeah, no. The Angus Beef is served Tartar and it is topped with an egg on top! So Yummy!
Check out the bar. Ken told us that the bar (which is pretty long) and three of the six top tables were made out of a large tree that had fallen across the road durning a storm here in ATL. If you are a bourbon lover, this is the place for you. They have pages and pages of bourbons on their drink list.
All the salt and pepper shakers are different. You can tell someone went to a lot of yard sales to get them. The Boy liked theses two. Only problem with them is that he likes to play with them and that is kinda gross.
For my appetizer I got the Lump Crab “Salad”. There are those quotes again! The lump crab was toped with honey mustard ice cream. Yes, ice cream! It was so Yummy!! Unlike the Snack, I did not have to share with My Man. He did get a taste and really loved it.
I love wine. Really, Really love it. My dad picked out CrossBarn by Paul Hobbs. It is a Pinot Noir and was very good. Pinot’s are my favorite. My parents are going to Nappa Vally and Sonoma in a few weeks and added this winery on their tour.
Ok, Shay, the place looks and sounds great but can I bring my kids there? Yes. The Boy is almost 8 and this is his third visit to Local Three. Whenever we go out to the dinner with him we tend to get to the restaurant around 5:30. We where there last night for about an hour and half and by the time we left, both tables next to us had kids with them. However, if you were looking for a date night place, it works too. My Man and I have eaten there around 7:30-8pm and it was great vibe too.
If you are someone who loves good food, check it out!! Tell them My Hotel Yorba sent you!
So it begins…
Here I am on Easter working on getting my first “real” blog set up. I woke up last night a 3am and sat in bed for 2 hours trying to figure out why I was having such a problem setting this dam thing up! When that (and My Man’s snoring) almost drove me to the edge, I thought of what I wanted to share to the world on my blog…you now the fun stuff! So, as I fumble my way through setting this up, here are a few things I am planning to include:
- Food Porn- I love to eat really good food. I really like it when I don’t make it, serve it or clean up after it, so I will be reviewing my favorite restaurants and not so favorite.
- Getting Fit- Like I said, I love food. However, I don’t like the side effects. Also, I am turning the big 40 soon and I would like to be in the best shape of my adulthood as I enter a new stage in life. Plus, the clothes! Love the clothes! I will let you know where I get them, deals I find and oh, the workouts I like.
- What am I listening to- We love music here at Hotel Yorba! I will up date you on not only what I am listening to but also what My Man and The Boy are listening to.
- The Illness- I have had cancer three times over the past 11 years. I know, I know, I couldn’t just have it once! No!! Had to have three times! I am still on this jounery and will be for the rest of my life. I will inform you about my type of cancer and update you on my health. Right now all is well!
- The Leg- This ties into The Illness and Getting Fit
- The Job- I have my own business, which is great cause I am the boss and in charge. But is is also is hard cause I am the boss and in charge! The buck stops here as they say. I will talk about the day to day issues a working mom has to deal with. I am in finance and due to the strict guidelines set up by the SEC, NYSE, my broker dealer, my compliance officer and everyone else out there who likes to make rules, I will not be discussing what I do on a day to day regarding my business. You want financial advice? Find a financial advisor! We rock!
- Whatcha Reading?- I LOVE to read! I read all kinds of books and will let you know what I think is good, bad, funny, sad and steamy! You have a book you want me to read, let me know.
- The Kids & The Girls- The Kids are the four legged members of our family. They are our cats Simon and Pandora. They also go by the names of Chunky Monkey and Porky Panny. The Girls are our two legged members of our family. Our Chickens Turbo and Poppy.
There will also be the day to day updates on what the heck is going on down here in the ATL. I am going to start out by letting a few friends and family know about My Hotel Yorba, but please share it with your friends and family. Once everything is up and running smoothly, I am planning on updating one to two times a day. Any suggestions you may have are welcomed!!
For all those who celebrate Easter, Happy Easter! For those of you who do not, Happy Sunday! And for those whose kids are on Spring Break this week like The Boy is, Happy Spring Break!!
