Snow in the ATL!

Good Day Reader’s!

It is snowing in the ATL! Timber and I went outside to check it out. He loved it! I thought it was just ok. It has been snowing now for over an hour and it has not let up. Not really looking forward to driving down my driveway to go pick up The Boy from the bus stop.

IMG_3550 IMG_3549 IMG_3548 IMG_3547 IMG_3542 IMG_3543A few of our friends came in town last weekend. It was so nice to see them. It has been about a year since we were all together. We all met at our friends house and watched poor Michigan State lose in basketball. Booo!!! But my #2 team, The Wichita State, won! My friend Jaime, who is a photographer in Wichita, photographs the team all the time. Last year she traveled with the team during March Madness and I saw her on TV. Anyway, she sent me a cool shirt!! Woot! Woot! How nice!  She thought I should represent my #2 team. Thank you Jaime!

I never thought the day would come but now only is Poppy back to laying eggs, she is doing it in the nesting boxes! Who would have thought!! Yes, that is poop in the boxes. Not only in Poppy laying there, she and Turbo are sleeping in them. The coop is huge. TONS of space for two hens. And my two Girls shove themselves into one little box (at the same time).

Poppy is laying the boxes! Yeah Poppy!

Happy Friday Reader’s!

SLOWLY but surely it is growing back....

SLOWLY but surely it is growing back….

I am so happy it is Friday!! Yeah weekend. This morning I went to workout with SK and then took a yoga class. I am beat! My arms and shoulders are killing me but I am happy that I made it through both. No big plans for tonight but tomorrow our friends JJ and Dora will be in town from the Big D (that is Detroit) for a visit. Our friends Rick and his boys will making the trip down from Nashville too. It will be fun the see them. I need to make sometime to clean and vacuum and laundry. That shit never ends!!!

I hope you all have a nice weekend. Stay Safe. Stay Warm!

A Skirt and Boots? What? What?

Morning Reader’s!

Are you frozen? Snow blocking the front door? It is 23 here in the ATL but feels like 16. I am going on the record that enough is enough. It was in the 60’s here on Monday. My sinus’ can’t take much more of this up and down in the temperature! I can’t remember it being this cold in January for a long time.

The Boy is heading to the State Capital for a school field trip today. He has four layers on! No, he does not have a proper winter coat. You only get one of those if you are going up north or out west to ski for Christmas Break!

I am heading to my first face to face client meeting in six months! I have two and one is taking me to lunch. Because of this I made sure I ate a large low carb breakfast this morning. I don”t know what will be offered, it is at a retirement home dinning hall. Any ideas?

Boots

For those who know me, the fact that I own a skirt and boots is shocking. The fact that I am going to wear them out in public is down right insane! I tell you people, 24 rounds of chemo and 27 radiation treatments can make a girl go crazy! Really, it all has to do with the fact that I can’t fit into my work slacks! But I am working on it!

Last night a bunch of us went out to celebrate our friend, Jason’s, 40th birthday. It was a lot of fun, and since we went to a steak place, I had no problem sticking to the low carb diet. No bread, no mac and cheese, no potatoes for me! Raw Oysters (no cracker), a steak (only ate half) and steamed broccoli. It was all very yummy. Had a wonderful time.

Stay Warm Reader’s!

Good Day Reader’s!

I keep thinking it is Monday! Does that happen to you when you have a weekday off from work/school? It just throws me off. I had a nice weekend. My Man and I went out to dinner Friday night at King + Duke. This was our second time and we loved it!

The is continuing with his boot camp. He really seems to be liking it and his coach is says he is getting better. I picked him up from his buddy’s house (he had spent the night) and we went to the gym Saturday morning. I went back to the gym on Sunday and walked on the treadmill for an hour while I watched Downton Abby on my iPad. I could have kept going but I had my second appointment with my Dietitian, Alyssa. Done! Done! Done!

Hey Reader’s!

Yummy Iron Horse!

Yummy Iron Horse!

So I am done! Done! Done! Done! Tuesday was my last radiation treatment. I went in and the techs were so excited for me. After I got zapped, I got two big hugs from them. I thanked them for being so nice to me, for not minding when I came straight from the gym (stinky) and for being so kind to The Boy. I then went and thanked the ladies at the front desk. They had been so nice to me. I then got to ring the last treatment bell. Everyone clapped and cheered for me. I had to hold back tears but when I got in my car, I just cried. I called My Man and left a voice mail telling him I was all done and that I was crying ( I think he had figured that one out) and did he want anything from Costco.  I guess I was just so happy to be done with it all. It was like the world had been lifted from my shoulders and I could not stop the tears.

That night My Man and I celebrated with a bottle of Iron Horse. And on Wednesday, I caught a cold. I mean really?? One day off radiation and I get sick? That is why I did not post anything last night. I went back to work on Wednesday but by the evening I felt like shit. My Man even alluded to (in the nicest way possible) that I in fact I looked like shit! I was in bed and asleep by 8:30pm.

Nose bleed

Nose bleed

As I am writing this, my nose is bleeding. Second one in two days. UGH! I think it is all due to the crazy weather we have been having. One day it is 8, three days later 62 and now back to the 30’s and 40’s. My sinus’ are not happy!

The Majestic

Last week The Girls had the roof on the run extended and they are loving it. I am too. No more ruined food and wet, soggy run when it rains.

"I Love it!"

“I Love it!”

I have been thinking about what kind of chickens I will get soon. I am looking for two girls who are near the size of Turbo and Poppy and who are not too aggressive. I do not want to make Turbo mad, she is the head hen and needs to stay that way. I want a good layer and non broody hen.

Protein+ Healthy Fat+ Veggie (fruit)

Hello Reader’s!

After today, I only have one more treatment to go! I am so excited. I won’t have to go back to Dr. Higgins for eight weeks!! Eight Weeks!! So excited. Now, doesn’t mean I won’t have to go back and see Dr. Read but he is at a different hospital and I am going to wait till they call me. I have no idea when I will my port will be taken out. I am guessing not until after I see Dr. Higgins. I really don’t mind. It isn’t sore anymore and even though I when I think about it, it freaks me out, I just don’t care.

One of the things My Man gave me for Christmas was a series of meetings with a registered dietitian at my gym. I went to my first meeting with Alyssa on Sunday. Alyssa had sent me a three page form to fill out that asked me about everything. What I ate, how much sleep do I get, what is my stress level, what supplements am I taking, what is my food weakness (carbs) etc. She was really easy to talk to and we got along really well. Turns out they suggest to use MyFitnessPal, so I was already ahead! Here are a few take-aways from my first meeting.

  • Healthy Meal Equation: Protein+ Healthy Fat+ Veggie (fruit)
  • Breakfast options (based off of what I already eat):  coffee with stevia, soft-boiled egg, turkey bacon, clementine, handful of almonds or coffee, full fat greek yogurt or  almonds, clementine, egg omelette/scramble with spinach, peppers, avocado (coconut oil)
  • Water intake: 80oz/day
  • Incorporate “me” time everyday: reading, yoga, watching Breaking Bad, listening to music
  • Dry Sauna: 10min at a time 2x/week
  • Track on MyFitnessPal!!!
  • Note any GI distress after meals and note energy levels

She told me not to worry too much the calorie intake but to keep tracking what I eat and to focus on the Protein+ Healthy Fat+ Veggie (fruit). Next week we will talk about protein sources.

I am back to working out with Sara Kate two times a week. Tomorrow I am working out with her and two other women. She thinks that we would all be a good fit. I am very excited. Not only will it be cool to workout with other women, it will save me money!

How is your Monday? Did you know they say it may snow here in the ATL? Pickles!
