It was a lovely weekend…

Reader’s!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. The weather was so nice. On Saturday I went to Lowes and got some tomato plants, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, okra and peppers to plant in the garden.

Yes, I have three different tomato “cages” that I am using. I have been collecting them over the past few years. I just got the ones with the bamboo sticks. This summer I will see which ones work out best.

I also cleaned out the nesting boxes in the coop. I got rid of all the used hay, sprayed them down with water and then let them dry in the sun. Then I let Zazzles and Terrance Peterson out into the main run. The meeting of the young hens and older hen’s went ok. Poppy and Turbo pecked at them a little bit. They were mainly interested in eating and drinking Zazzles and Terrance Peterson’s food and water. Today Aidan and I once again let them out again and I was able to hold Zazzles and Terrance Peterson for a bit. They are so cute! I then put them both on the highest roosting bar to try out.

Hi!

Hi!

They did great! They stayed up there for about 10 minutes or so. Then they both flew off and landed on Poppy and Turbo. They didn’t like that too much. I plan on letting them mix together over the next few days. Hopefully by this weekend they will have gotten use to each other and will be ready to live together.

On Sunday we spent the day with friends and had a wonderful time and dinner. Although I have a lot on my mind, I had a wonderful weekend. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I want to thank you all for your prayers and good vibes. They really mean a lot to me and my family.

Today I filled out an application for co-pay assistance for my medication. The pills cost around $8,500.00 a month. My deductible is around $1,500.00. The special pharmacy suggested we fill out the application so we did. After My Man and I talked about it we decided that if we do get the assistance, we would donate the money we saved to the Winship Cancer Institute. There are a lot of people out there who need co-pay assistance more than we do, so it is the least we can do. Drugs can be $$$!

I just can’t catch a break…

Oh Reader’s!

Sweet Son of a Pickle! Today’s appointment did not go the way My Man and I had thought it would. The stupid little tumor is back!

However, there is some good news. The tumor is in a different place then the last one. In fact it is most likely the cause of my rib pain. It is smaller than the last one, so it doesn’t seem to be growing as fast. Dr. Read has suggested and we have agreed with him, to try a newish drug called Pazopanib that I will take four times a day. During the clinical trails it was found that it worked best on my type of sarcoma :). It is a very $$$ drug but I just found out that my insurance company ok’d it and I should have it sometime next week.

The drug will hopefully stop the tumor from growing. That is the first goal and if that is all that happens then I am a winner and I will take it for the rest of my life. Second goal is for it to start shrinking them so maybe this pain in my ribs would go away (Dr. Read gave me some pain meds to help with the pain). Right now I am focused on the first goal. I am not sure what all the side effects are but I did read that weight loss was one. Right. Knowing my luck I will gain weight just like I did with chemo!

I will go back in to see Dr. Read after I have been on the drug for at least two weeks. They will take blood and make sure my white blood cell count is good. After I have been on the drug for a month they run another CT scan and hopefully there will be no growth on the tumor(s). I am to keep up my healthy eating and exercise.

It could end up that I have a chronic disease (like diabetes) called cancer that I manage by taking a pill four times a day. I would be ok with that.

It’s that time again…

Good Thursday Reader’s!

I hope you all have been having a good week. Tomorrow is Friday and I can’t wait! I am planning on working in the garden this weekend. I have $20 gift card to Lowes and plan on buying some veggies for the garden.

It’s that time again…

Tomorrow, My Man and I head back to see Dr. Read for my two month scans. I will be getting a CT scan, blood drawn, port flushed and will see Dr. Read. Other then the pain is my shoulder, ribs (I am going to ask about that) and allergies, I feel fine! If you pray, please say a few words for my family and I. If you don’t pray, please send good vibes my way. Thanks!!

It took nine years…

…but we finally got a TV out on the screened in porch. Woot! Woot! I am so happy. Direct TV came out and fixed it all up for us. We were also able to get a new DVR and can now record 4 shows at once! Plus you can access all your recorded shows from any TV in the house.

Zazzles and Terry Pete Update

The two little girls are doing great. They are still being separated from Turbo and Poppy. I think they are all getting use to each other. They have been introduced to arugula, cantaloupe and honey-do. They really like the melon. At this point I am mainly worried about how Poppy will treat the little girls. Turbo just wants the food in their dish but Poppy seems to want to get up close and personal. Time will tell!

Hmmm....Lunch.

Reader’s, what are your plans for the weekend? For those of you up north, has the snow all melted? Have fun and Stay Safe!

A new chicken! Oh wait, it’s just The Boy.

My Mom, Dad, The Boy and I all drove up to northern Georgia to pick up Zazzles and Terry Pete. They are so cute! Their cones are so tiny and not even that red yet. The owners of the farm where super nice. Melissa works the farm full-time and her husband helps on the weekends. If we ever get more hens, I am going back to them.

Turbo and Poppy are very interested in the new girls. I am not to sure that they are happy with their new roommates. There has been a lot of chatter in the run this afternoon. Poppy REALLY wants to get into their little run and Turbo wants to eat their food. Which is weird, since she has the same food in her feeder!

I think I will keep Zazzles and Terry Pete in their little coop/run for a few days. I need to make sure that Poppy and Turbo get use to them and accept them. No hen pecking at The Majestic allowed!

They are coming!!!!

Happy Friday Reader’s!

How are we this Friday? I am doing well. After the boys got off to work and school, I got ready and went to the gym to work out with SK. I signed up for a 10,000 steps per day challenge that Lifetime Fitness and Fitbit are doing. It started on Sunday and so far I have been able to achieve my 10,000 steps per day. The challenge is for 30 days. I sure hope I can make it!

The Girls are almost here!

Reader’s, tomorrow we will be driving up to Glass Pound Farm to pick up our two new hens! I am so excited! I really hope that they are sweet and get along with Turbo and Poppy. Fingers are crossed! Here is a reminder of the type of hens we are getting.

Lens Cup

Yesterday I got a box in the mail from Amazon. I didn’t remember ordering anything so I was a bit stumped. Inside was a lens cup and that was all. No receipt. No card. I did not order the cup. My Man did not order it. I have NO idea who ordered it. But I really like it!! So whoever gave it to me, thank you! And please let me know who you are.

Sometimes I Forget…

This morning I was in Target (looking so fresh in my workout clothes…NOT) buying Easter candy and treats for the two baskets I am making. A young man who worked there asked me if my foot was ok. I guess I was limping more than usual. I was like no, not really getting it. He said it looked like I hurt it and then I remembered! I told him not to worry, it wasn’t real (he took that like a pro). Yeah, I forgot for a second. I know, how can you forget something like not having a real left foot!  Pickles!

Can't stop eating them!

Shout Out!

Uncle Roone- My uncle started his first chemo treatment this weekend up in Indianapolis, In. So far he said he had not gotten sick yet and I sure hope he doesn’t. Fingers are crossed!

Sunny Day in the ATL

The Boy & My Man @ The Braves Game

Good Day Reader’s!

The sun (and pollen-Boo) are out in the ATL today. Yesterday The Boy and I went out and ran some errands. We stopped at Target and I spoke to the pharmacist there. I explained about the issues I am having with my sinus’. The headaches have not gone away for the past week. She gave me something to take and so far, it has eased the pain a bit. I am feeling so much better.

Me & The Boy @ The Braves Game

We also stopped at Home Depot and bought some herbs and tomato plants. Once again, as I have done the past few summers, I have high hopes for my garden. Last year’s was a bit of a bust since I was undergoing chemo. I planted ten tomato plants in the garden and three different kinds of basil (sweet, Thai & pepper) in a planting container.

I have decided to buy some cucumber trellis’. I ordered two from Gardner’s Supply Company. I am hoping that the cucumbers and squash will do better than in the past if they are up off the ground.

Ordered two of these.

I am hoping to get word soon that our two new hens are ready to pick up. I am planning on putting the old coop and run into the The Majestic to keep them separate but close so they can get to know each other. I have moved the run into the The Majestic and it is a tight fit but they will be fine.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Be good and stay safe!

Oh Pollen….How I hate you…..

Good Day Readers!

Spring has sprung and so have my sinus headaches! Ugh. I am a mess. The pressure around my nose and eyes is killing me.  It poured down rain yesterday. You would think that the rain would have helped but it didn’t. As soon as the rain washed it away, more came.

So gross.

Turbo…She is a mess

Poor Turbo! On Saturday I notice she had some black goo on her face, comb and neck. I was able to touch it and it is sticky. I tried to wipe it off with a wet wash cloth but it would not come off. She does not seem to be in pain but it looks terrible and I would love to help her get rid of it.

Panny, Simon and Timber

The three fur kids inside Hotel Yorba are all doing well. Timber has been going into work with me. He loves to ride in the car and go on walks at the office. His official position at the office is guard dog. He does a good job. Whenever anyone knocks on the door, Timber lets the person behind the door know that there will be no messing with us inside.

Don't mind me...

Don’t mind me…

Panny and Simon are doing well. They can’t wait till the pollen is all gone so they can spend more time out on the screened in porch.

What?

GRRRRR.....

GRRRRR…..

This morning when I went out to let The Girls out of their coop I noticed that something had dug in my spinach and arugula planter. What? I am guessing that it is a chipmunk or squirrel eating up my lettuces. I am not sure how to stop it from happening again. Ideas?

And then there is my hair…

My hair is a mess. The color still has the red tint to it. I have been washing it hoping it will fade. Over the last few days it has gotten curler and curler. I have no idea what is going on with it. I am just waiting and waiting and waiting for it to grow out. Pickles.

The Boy is on Spring Break this week. He is going to camp at LifeTime and is having a great time. Tomorrow night we are heading to a Braves game. My Man was able to get free tickets for his companies box at Turner Field. They will be playing the Mets. Should be a fun time!

Are you on your Spring Break? Did you go anywhere? Or have a Staycation?
