My LT (little tumors)

IMG_4387

It’s Monday Reader’s! How are you doing? I woke up an empty nester! The Boy is at sleep away camp. My Man and I dropped him off yesterday at Camp Winnataska in Alabama. Four of his friends from school are also going so we feel much better knowing his best buddies will be there with him. I think he was excited but also a bit nervous. He told me he is just going to think about like he is spending the night at a friend’s house. We wrote him letters also with his grandparents so he will get mail each day. I also purchased him some goodies that he will get throughout the week.IMG_4391 IMG_4379On Saturday we celebrated Timber’s “Gotcha Day”. I can’t believe it has been one year since he has come into our lives. He has brought such joy to our house. We went out to lunch and then to his best friend, Rebel’s, house. Rebel’s mom bought Timber a beer made esp. for dogs. How nice!! She also got him a yummy cookie.IMG_4376

The Son by Jo Nesbo- I finished listening to this one a few weeks ago and like with his Henry Hole series, I loved it. Jo Nesbo is a fantastic writing and I suggested anyone who enjoys crime/mystery books check him out.

Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds by Dr. Kelly Turner- I started reading this after I saw an interview Kris Carr did with her.

n her New York Times bestseller, Radical Remission: Surviving Cancer Against All Odds, Dr. Kelly A. Turner, founder of the Radical Remission Project, uncovers nine factors that can lead to a spontaneous remission from cancer—even after conventional medicine has failed.

While getting her Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkley, Dr. Turner, a researcher, lecturer, and counselor in integrative oncology, was shocked to discover that no one was studying episodes of radical (or unexpected) remission—when people recover against all odds without the help of conventional medicine, or after conventional medicine has failed.  She was so fascinated by this kind of remission that she embarked on a ten month trip around the world, traveling to ten different countries to interview fifty holistic healers and twenty radical remission cancer survivors about their healing practices and techniques. Her research continued by interviewing over 100 Radical Remission survivors and studying over 1000 of these cases.  Her evidence presents nine common themes that she believes may help even terminal patients turn their lives around.–Amazon.com

So far I have read the first three chapters and am hooked. The stories of the survivors are very uplifting and encouraging. I am using what I am learning in my own fight to get my LT’s (Little Tumors) healthy again. I have decided not to hate them. Not to want to kill them. They are just blood cells who minding their own business, working hard for me and the bam! They get sick. I know the feeling and I want to help them get better. I want the big LT to lose some weight cause he is really hurting my ribcage. So I am going to be positive, tell them I will help them get better. Watch what I put in my body, how I treat it and to breathe. Most people don’t really breath. I don’t need the negative energy in my mind and body right now. Who wants to go around being angry all the time? I know there are some out there who think the chemo, radiation and drugs have all gone to my head and maybe they have but this feels right for me. Of course when I told My Man about LT he said he would just be happy to kill the little fuckers. Oh Well!

Bonjour!

Reader’s!

How the heck are you? Did you have a good Monday? Mine was good. Today was the first day of Rock Band Camp for The Boy. When we got there they all remembered him (by name) from last summer! How cool is that!. He had a great time. He will playing the guitar this year. I told him to try singing but he didn’t. Although he said maybe he should have. The singer isn’t the best he said. They are learning two songs, Miss You by the Rolling Stones and Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. They will have a concert on Thursday night. I will make sure to take some pictures. I can’t wait! Last year I had to miss his concert because I was the hospital for my first round of chemo. Not this year!

Yum!

Yum!

My juicing is still going strong. On Sunday I bought more cucumbers and celery. I have added broccoli stems to the mix. I also went to Whole Foods today and bought some wheat grass. That stuff is $$$$. I have decided to buy my own seeds and start growing it myself. Wheat grass is super good for you and I want to add it to my daily juicing without going bankrupt! I have given up red meat and haven’t eaten pork since I was 13! I want to cut down my chicken intake to only once or twice a week if that (I think it would make The Girls happy). Fish, turkey and veggies. I plan to eventually cut out chicken totally but will keep eating eggs, cause they are a gift! I will try to only eat my eggs or ones where I know they are organic. The more I read the more and more I realize how important it is to watch what we are putting into our bodies. Our American diet is nothing like it was 50, even 25 years ago and it isn’t getting better. Best to take charge and start taking care of this body of mine!

I would walk 10,000 miles (steps)….

I ended up coming up in 7th at my gym for the 10,000 steps a day challenge. Not too bad!  After a bit of a break where I was hitting 7000 steps a day I have decided to go back to the 10,000 steps per day. It isn’t easy! I sit on my ass a lot! But once again, I need to take care of the body. I am not getting any younger!

This weekend we went to see friends we haven’t seen for a while. There kids are getting so big. Baby K wanted to do everything that The Boy was doing so they had to find her headphones and she borrowed her mom’s iPhone. So cute!

We had a nice dinner and drank some good wine. The Boy hit a wall around 8:30pm and passed out on the couch. There was drool. I guess the party finally caught up to him. I to got tired and passed out when we got home.

Doesn’t it look nice? I have already looked into juice bar but couldn’t find any in walking distance. Hopefully they will have some juice at the grocery store or a market near by. I don’t want to miss four days!

It is time for me to go out and visit the girls and play with Timber. Have a wonderful night!!

Party time!

Good Morning Reader’s!

Sun is out here int the ATL. The weather has been kinda crazy here this past week. It will start out sunny and warm and end wet and muggy. We have been getting a lot of spring showers! It has been great for my garden. I have many green tomatoes popping up and my cucumbers/squash are growing well. Last week I also planted corn, peas and parsnips. They have all sprouted over the past week. I am so excited!

Ouch!

Ouch!

They Boy had a crazy few days. The other day at camp he slammed his finger in the door and then it got stuck. It was very painful for him and is still swollen. It is finally feeling better which is good because he has Rock Camp next week and will need to be able to play the guitar.

Right now in his room there are 6 9-10 year olds. We had a full house last night. The Boy invited 5 of his buddies over to swim and spend the night to celebrate his birthday. They swam three different times, played video games and watched movies. We had Mellow Mushroom pizza and cake.

Everyone has gotten along great and they are all very sweet. We had one issue last night at bedtime. One of the boys was kinda scared/sad and was crying. The Boy came in and told me that his buddy usually listens to wave music to go to bed. I set him up with headphones and my iPad and had him listen to my yoga music. Worked out perfectly. The whole time The Boy was telling him that is was ok and everything would be fine. He then came and thanked me for helping out his friend. So sweet!

Today I need to run some errand and then we are going to spend sometime with friends we haven’t seen for a while. Should be a great day. I hope you have one too!

Needs more salt…

Chillin' at Dr. Reads

Chillin’ at Dr. Reads

I got some good news today at Dr. Reads office today. My blood tests came back great! My white blood cell count was good, liver and kidneys look great! The only issue was that my sodium level was a bit low (128 whatever that means), lower than it has ever been. Low sodium!?! I love me some salt! Dr. Read is very happy with how things are going which makes me very happy.

Waiting....

Waiting….

The white hair has started to appear. It’s crazy! Good thing I will be going to get my hair colored next week. Don’t think I could stand to much of it. The pain in my side is still there and Dr. Read seems to think it is possible nerve damage from the surgery since it is at its worse in the morning and better when I am up and moving around. All I know is that it hurts and sneezing is a b!tch!

I am off to ProCare today to get my two new legs! Can’t wait to test out the sporty on tomorrow during my workout with SK. Bouncy! Bouncy! Bouncy!

Reader’s, how is your week going?

Picture Time!

Reader’s!!! How the heck are all y’all? I am doing good. I am loving the weather that the ATL has been having the past few days. It looks like it will continue through the weekend too! We are having friends coming into town tonight and still have a lot of cleaning to do. I am feeling kinda tired right now but I am going to have to get passed it and vacuum!

Mustache Boy

Mustache Boy

This morning I was up and out early. I stopped by Dunkin Donuts to grad 50 donut holes for The Boys class. I then went to Home Depot to get more plants for around the pool and more cucumbers (I have a fear none of the other 5000 I have bought will grow!) then to Trader Joes to buy food for tomorrows party. I headed home and cleaned bathrooms. I really wanted to go to sleep! Instead I went back out and hung out with The Boy’s class and gave them donuts holes after they were done with their lunch for The Boy’s birthday. Their classroom had already been broken down. His teacher was so excited today was the last day. I bet she was!!!

Car full of balloons!

Car full of balloons!

After the school, I went to the $$ store and bought nine balloons for The Boy’s big day. Buying the balloons at the $$ store is the best deal! All the balloons are $1! You can’t beat it! Then it was time for my workout with SK. I was tired and my knee hurt but I made it through.

So soft!

So soft!

When I was leaving Austin bright and early at 6:30am last Saturday my Guru, Judi, came down to say goodbye. She was wearing these super cute PJ’s and I asked where she had got them. When I got back home I went straight to the website and order myself a pair (not the same pattern). They came today and I soooo wanted to put them on and climb into bed! Instead I put the in the washing machine and am typing away to y’all.

I love that picture of Timber and Panny. We were just hanging out in the screen in porch watching the baseball game. The weather was so nice, the toads were talking and the lights! Oh I love the lights!

The rest of the day will be filled with cleaning and laundry. Our friends won’t get in till around midnight so I guessing I will be taking a nap at some point tonight. I hope y’all have a wonderful and safe holiday. If you see a service man or woman this weekend or have a grandparent or uncle or aunt or parent, go up to them or give them a call and say Thank You. If not for them, who know where we would all be!

The $75.89 pill…

Reader’s!

IMG_3945

This is what a $75.89 pill looks like. I thought it would be bigger. And Orange. And Glow in the dark. Nope. Looks like an average pill. Let’s hope it doesn’t work like an average pill but like a SUPER pill.

IMG_3944

I got my pills around 11am today and took my four. I am to take them all at once (much easier) and on an empty stomach. So far I feel ok. My head is a bit fuzzy but I forgot to take my allergy pills and even though we have had a lot of rain over the past few days, the pollen is still out there.

Birthday

The Boy’s Birthday is coming up this month. Truth be told, The Boy has too much stuff as it is. I always get him clothes, he needs those but I really don’t want to by him stuff that he will forget about in a months time. So this morning I came up with an idea. The Boy loves animals, especially cute ones (who doesn’t?!). Recently I came across Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary in Australia. They take in hurt and abandoned farm animals and provide them a home and healthcare. In some cases they adopt them out. On the site they have a page where you can “sponsor” an animal on the farm. I took a look and have found the perfect one for The Boy for his birthday. Reader’s! Meet Boots!

Boots!

Boots!

Isn’t he the cutest thing ever?! Make sure you take a look at his video on the website. He jumps around like a jumping bean! I also love his sweater. I wish we could bring him home. Aidan will get a Welcome packet and then will be sent updates on Boots via e-mail for the year. I hope they send some pictures of him in his sweater with his friends! Such a cutie!

If you go checkout the website take a look at Little Miss Sunshine. She is a super smart Chicken. Check out her video.

I am happy that the weekend is almost here. I am planning on adding Zazzles and Terry Pete to the big coop and run permanently. My fingers are crossed. Zazzles and Terry Pete have gotten the hang of roosting and if they need to, they can hop up and get away from Turbo and Poppy. Hopefully they will get use to each other soon.

Snow…Again. :/

Reader’s!

We woke up covered in snow! Pickles! I would really like to get out of the house sometime today. I am going a little crazy being stuck in My Hotel Yorba. It may be possible. It should get up in the 40’s today and start melting this stuff. My Man and I are going to Nashville tomorrow to celebrate our good friends (The Boy’s God Mother) birthday. My parents are planning on heading over from Bama but at this point are not sure when they are going to leave.
