Day 1- Quebec City, Quebec

Reader’s!

Friday started early for me and My Man. A littler earlier for me since I woke up at 2am to My Man snoring and wasn’t able to fall back asleep! The alarm went off at 3:15am while I was reading the news and I got up ready for our journey to Quebec City to begin.

Our trip to Quebec went pretty well. Our flight left at 5:55am ( 5 minutes early! Go Air Canada!). We made it to our condo around 12pm and were able to check in right away.

The Condo

IMG_4279

The condo is very nice and very small. They said it was a two bedroom and they are lying. There isn’t really a “bedroom” at all. Instead there is a loft with a queen sized bed and a little office area with a Murphy bed. We had asked three different couples if they had wanted to join us and although I would have loved for one of them to say yes, I am glad they didn’t! The place would be great for a single person to live in. It however worked out perfect for My Man and I.

Lunch

IMG_4256 IMG_4257

After we got settled we headed out to grab some lunch. The area we were in was perfect. We looked at five different places and settle on Cafe Resto Saint Malo. I had salmon tartar and a warm goat cheese salad and some wine. My Man had the rabbit. We were able to sit outside and watch the people and the rain, sun, rain and sun. It did that the whole day. I am sure if I were looking there were tons of rainbows throughout out the day.

Shopping

IMG_4262 IMG_4263

Last year I ended up buying My Man a beautiful leather jacket. So after lunch we headed to our favorite leather store and he bought me one for my birthday! I love it! It is gorgeous!
I was also able to exchange my wallet, which had issues with the stitching, for a new and different style. I must admit, I like the new on better than the first! Sweet! My Man also bought three new shirts and a light sweater. He barely packed anything with the sole intent of buying new clothes on this trip. He really needs some new stuff. I saw some stuff that I liked and planned on going back to try it all on later. To rainy for me to try clothes on! My hair was already a hot mess.

You can't tell but it is pouring down rain.

Dinner

IMG_4266

For dinner and drinks we went back to a favorite from last year called Sapresti. We scored our favorite table (the best one in the place) had a wonderful dinner, which included flatbread and yummy drinks. We talked about our plans for the next few days and did a little people watching. I even saw a boob! The people behind us had a baby and well, it was dinner time!

IMG_4267 IMG_4268 IMG_4269

After dinner we went back to the condo to grab my new awesome jacket. It had gotten a little chilly and was perfect leather weather. We went to Le Pub which was down from our condo and had a glass of wine. By this time, I was tired and ready for bed. My Man made fun of me of wanting to go to bed at 9:30pm. Guess who fell asleep first. Ha!

Overall it was a great first day. Even the crazy weather was fine. We got to wear the jackets we bought here last year and I got to wear my new leather one! Nice!

Austin, Texas

I am back Reader’s!

My trip to Austin, Texas was wonderful! What a wonderful city and a WONDERFUL group of strong, independent, fun ladies I got to hang out with for three days.

Rock Texas

We stayed at the downtown W in Austin. It was a very nice hotel and almost everyone there was super nice. I had a room with two double beds that was pretty big and the bathroom was great too. We spent Friday afternoon out by the pool where we did a lot of shop talk, had some food, drinks and big laughs.

Very windy out!

On Thursday night we had drinks and food at the W’s outside lounge area. Once again, great Shop Talk, getting to know each other and laughs were had. We then walked to the a bridge at dusk to se THOUSANDS of bats wake up and fly out to start their day. It was amazing!

Our hotel was right next door to where they host Austin City Limits and record the show. My man and I hope to see a show there one day.

I was able to find a place to get my daily juice/smoothie. It was right by the hotel and is called the Daily Juice. They had so many fruits and veggies in that place! I had a really hard time choosing. The first day I went totally green and bought one that had kale, cucumber, parsley and celery to name few veggies.

Super Green!

On Friday morning I went for a smoothie that had blueberries, strawberries and peanut butter among other yummy things. It was really good. I hadn’t thought to add peanut butter to a fruit/veggie smoothie before.

We ate at some great restaurants for lunch and dinner. At dinner we had two different signature cocktails made for us. Both were very good. IMG_4025

The food was soo good. Judi (head gal) did a wonderful job picking the restaurants (with the help of her hubby Theo) and the tasting menus. IMG_4062

Pictures and Update

I am BACK Reader’s! How are you? How was your Thanksgiving? Did you eat too much? Did you drink too much? I did! There was so much food and yummy wine around all week it was hard to say no. The golf cart was a blast to drive and Timber loved to ride in it with us.

IMG_3274 IMG_3273 IMG_3262 IMG_3270 IMG_3260

Here are a few updates that have happen while I was on vacay.

  • I am able to wear my bra for more than an hour before the pain kicks in! Woot!
  • Yesterday I SHAVED my legs. It took me awhile to find my razor and I had no shaving cream but I that didn’t stop me. Needless to say, I picked some up at Target.
  • My left eyebrow has fully grown back. My right one is close but is growing in a crazy way. It is going to feel strange but I am going to have to go get them waxed soon.
  • There is some serious fuzz growing on my head. It is very soft and I like to rub my hand across it every so often. So does The Boy.
  • It was COLD at the beach last week. What’s up with that?

IMG_3246

IMG_3286

  • Timber is a wonderful traveler. He did great in the car and loved being at the beach with the family.

IMG_3258 IMG_3257

  • The plan was that my niece, Hailiegh, and I were going to go see new Hunger Games movie while I was down there. Turns out my dad and mom wanted to see it too. And not to be left out, so did My Man. So on Tuesday we all headed out in the pouring down rain to the movie theater and saw the movie. I loved it! My niece loved it! My dad loved it! My Mom liked it. My Man thought it was ok. We have plans to see the next one next Thanksgiving. Can’t wait!

Quinones

On Saturday night, I took My Man out for his birthday dinner at Quinones at Bacchanalia. He has been wanting to go eat there for years and we were lucky to get reservations. We had a 20 course tasting. Mine was slighty different from My Man’s since I do not eat pork.

Madeleines

I forgot to take a picture of th Maple Pecan desert. We also went ahead and had the Wine Pairings with the meal. All were very good except the I wasn’t a big fan of the port we had with desert. Much to thick and sweet for me. My Man had a wonderful time and the food was incredible. Quinones is now our favorite special occasion restaurant. Today is My Man’s actual birthday and his first gift from me is that I am not waking him up.

I hope you all have a Happy Monday!!

Breaking Free today…

Hello Reader’s!

The bruises on my back are gone! Woot! Woot! Waking up and getting up out of bed is getting easier each day. I am also able to raise my right arm above my head without any pain. Still taking the pain pills but not as often or as much. I am on the mend.

Unknown-2

Guess what!?! I am leaving the house today! It has been over a week since I last left the Hotel Yorba. My Man and I will be going out to dinner tonight to Empire Sate South. This is one of Hugh Acheson‘s restaurant. We have been there a few times before and have loved our meals. They have a Half Shell Oysters cocktail, celery mignonette, ESS hot sauce, benne crackers as an appetizer that I may get. Yummy. They also have a six course tasting. Since we have a nice sized gift card, that may be what we will try. Either way, I am looking forward to tonight.

The Boy will be spending the night at his friend, Corey’s, house. He is very excited.  We don’t have much else planned for the weekend, which is kinda nice. I may try driving, it will depend on how the pain is on my right side and if my arm feels strong enough.

Whatcha Reading?

Unknown

I have started a new book, Police, by Jo Nesbo. I have read almost all the books Nesbo has has written in The Harry Hole series. In fact the only ones I haven’t read are the ones that have yet to be translated into english yet.

Jo Nesbo

Jo Nesbo

Nesbo is from Norway and has written over 20 novels. The first book of his I read was called The Snowman. Very good. Unfortunately I have not been able to read the entire series in order. For example, book two, in a 12 book series, isn’t coming out in English until February. I don’t know why they have released them done this way. It is kind of confusing but well worth it. Check them out.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Dirt Bath

Good Day Reader’s!

How was your Friday? Mine was good. I went into the office to do a few hours of work and then met My Man for a late lunch at a new restaurant called Common Quarter. I had their fish sandwich which was good but I would have liked a little more sauce on it. My Man had the hamburger with homemade chips. When we got there, there was a table full of ladies that were so loud. As in it hurt my ears loud! Even our waiter mentioned it. Over all the food was good, our waiter was nice and the place was pleasant (especially of the table of ladies left). We will go back and try it for dinner soon.

Go away...sleeping.

Go away…sleeping.

Last night we chilled in front of the TV waiting for the season premiere of Grim. We have been watching it since it first aired. The Boy got into it to, so we watch it as a family. There is a lot of “close your eyes!” moments and a few times, he has left the room because it was to scary for him. I am glad he knows when it is too much for him.  It is funny, he remembered everything that happened last season but can’t remember what he did at school that day. I guess he has his priorities!

First Fire of the season

First Fire of the season

We had a fire for the first time this season. Simon was all over that. He loves to sit in front of the fire and get all toasty. Timber wasn’t all that interested but to be honest, I think Grim was to scary for him!

Saturday

The Boy had piano/guitar this morning, so while he was getting his rock on, I went to Lowes to pick up a few things. I wanted to make a dirt bath for the girls and read on Pinerest that a mixture of sand, dirt and DE was great for hens. I had already ordered the DE so all I needed to do was get some sand and dirt.

I mixed all three items together in an old, used one time, cat litter box I found in storage. I put it under the plank where the run roof is covered so it won’t get rained on. I picked up Turbo and put her in it and she promptly hopped out. Oh well. I hope they check it out.

Ready for some hens!

Ready for some hens!

I also picked up three bales of pine straw to put around the coop and the area where the old coop use to be. I am never sure how many bales to get or how much will fit in my car. Turns out I could use another three bales and could have fit two more in my car. Maybe tomorrow.

I think someone is trying to hide.

Almost time for me to get my college football on. RTR!! Have a wonderful day Reader’s!!

My Man

My Man

For the last month My Man has been working from home while his office is being renovated. It has been kinda of nice having him at home during the day. He makes the coffee in the morning after dropping off to the boy to school and take breaks and does some cleaning or laundry. Tomorrow will be the last day before he heads back to his office north of us. Today we went to one of his favorite restaurants, Canoe, for lunch. We have eaten dinner there many times but never lunch.

L1030225

L1030215

We ordered two appetizers to share, Shrimp Spring Rolls with Cilantro and Yuzu and Canoe’s House Smoked Salmon on a Crispy Potato Cake with Vermont Goat’s Cheese. The Smoked Salmon was soooo good. I think I could have eaten two of them all by myself. The Spring Rolls were also very good but the salmon was my favorite.

L1030216

For lunch both My Man and I ordered Crispy George’s Bank Cod Fish Sandwich with House Made Tartar Sauce. The sandwich was very tasty. The cod is fresh not frozen and you could tell the difference. The french fries were so good I had to force myself to stop eating them or I would have eaten all of them!

L1030221

It was really nice having lunch with My Man. It is such a pretty day today and we had a good time. It is too bad he doesn’t work closer to home. We could meet for lunch much more!
