Who gives a flying chimpanzee

Hey Reader’s!

How are you this morning? I am up and trying to stay that way. I did not go back for a nap after I got The Boy off to school like I have been. I was restless and had a list of things in my head that need to me done , like RIGHT NOW. You ever get that way? I did a little yin yoga to try to stretch out. I need to do more that is for sure. Laying in a bed for five days does not help up you stretch out. Later, I got cleaned up and had some peanut butter and toast for breakfast. I then had some coffee. Yummy.

Question: When can you start decorating for Fall/Halloween?

My Dad and The Boy started cleaning out our third garage and they found lots of our Fall/Halloween decorations and I am wondering why wait? Is it ok to put out the more fall items and wait a bit for the witches and zombies? Or do we become one of those people and put it all out now? It isn’t like many people will see it up here on the hill. What to do…

Question: Do I go ahead and break down and buy a Halloween zombie toy for Timber? It is on sale and free shipping. I am going to buy more balls for him too (he losses them at a high rate) and some catnip mice to replace the ones Timber ate for the cats. Do I break down and just buy it? Holiday themed chew toys? No costumes I promise.

Is there a time in your like were you just say f-it? I don’t care what people say and just do what you want? I have hit these times before and seem to be hitting them more and more. Is it age? Or life events? For me, it has been due to life events. When I was first diagnosed with cancer back in 2002 my husband and I made a pack that we were going to do things we wanted to do instead of wait till later ( who knew how long either of us had). We were fans on the original IRON CHEF, the japanese version and found out the Chef Japan Iron Chef Morimoto had just opened his first restaurant in the USA in Philadelphia. We booked reservations 3 months in advanced and flew there just to eat there! It was a 5 hours dinner and we got to meet and get out picture with him. So Cool!!! It was the best meal we had ever had and so much fun. It was also the first time we stayed at a Ritz Carlton, thank you Travelocity!

No matter how big, a trip to a restaurant or small, zombie chew toy for the dog, just do it. Who gives a flying chimpanzee???

Go be wonderful Readers!!!

I’ve Got Friends…

Hey Y’all!

I hope you have been having a great day. Here in the ATL is feels like an overcast October day and I love it! The temp is in the low 70’s and it is not that muggy. It would have been nice for some sun but who cares. I woke up bright and early to get The Boy ready for school. After he and My Man left, I did not have to lay in the fetal position due to the nausea for to long today. Woot! Making progress! I was able to come down around 7:30am and do a little work. I wanted to get an early start since I had a “date” with some ladies for lunch. Rebecca was kind enough to come pick me up and we meet Amy and Devra for a quick-lunch at Mirko. It was very yummy and I ate too much. Towards the end I was getting kinda tired and I am very happy Rebecca drove me home (as is everyone driving on Riverside Drive). I was pretty tired afterwards but it was really nice to get out and feel normal. Thanks Ladies!!!!

Ealier this week I think I mentioned a soup my mom had made for me that I loved. It was a Cold Cucumber and Avocado soup from the cookbook I got from my friends Chad & Kristen.

Well, I ate that up in a day and a half and have been wanting to make some more ever since. We still had some of the avocados that my FIL had sent us and they were going bad fast. I decided to go all though them and pick out the good parts to see if I have enough to make the soup. I have enclosed the ingredients and directions for anyone who loves cold soup. I kinda went off the reservation when I made my batch. I didn’t make enough for six (or maybe I did) but I added more avocados, salt, lime, cayenne pepper, etc. to mine. I blended and tasted as I went. I plan on having it for lunch tomorrow!

Shout Outs-

Jennifer S.- I LOVED the veggie lasagna and salad! That dressing was very yummy and even The Boy ate the lasagna!

Gerri T.- Love me that soup! Going to have some for dinner tonight. Thanks for hanging out a bit. Someday you will have to come to my house when it is clean!

Good Day today!

Lunch

Today I made myself two small salads for lunch. When I say “made myself” I only made one of them. The other I transferred from the container to a bowl.  The first was left over from last night that my friends Dona brought over. It came from Hearth in Sandy Springs. It had arugula, blue berries, peaches,  almonds and parm cheese with a vinaigrette. Very Yummy! Thanks Dona! I had never had that salad from there before but will add it to my list!

The one I made had heirloom cherry tomatoes, cucumber, mozz cheese with salt, EVOO and a balsamic glaze. The cool thing (for me) about this salad, is that I grew the tomatoes and cucumber! Woot! Yep! Finally getting some goods from the garden.

Go out and get some!

Go out and get some!

I used the a balsamic glaze from Trader Joes that my friends Rebecca and Amy told me about. I had no idea they had such a thing! I love it and have used it many times since. Only issue: I tend to use to much!

Hair Update: Still Got It!

Later in the day…

Timber and I spent some time with the Girls. It was nice a sunny out and they were able to get some good scratching done. I threw the ball to Timber a bit and pulled a couple of weeds in the garden. The rain and the cancer clusterf*&k has taken a toll on my poor garden. It is doing ok but I have such high hopes this summer!

I did not do much “work” today. Tomorrow I have a conf. call, so maybe I can get a bit of work done. Going to try the yoga later tonight.

Dinner

While my parents were in town watching The Boy, they made a few soups for me from the book I got from my friends Chad and Kristen.

Tonight I had the Brocoli and Potato soup. It was really good!  Way to go Mom and Dad!! I also had some grapes and a little gluten-free parmesan risotto I made. My tummy is happy.

My Man is still giving me my shots in the tummy. I may have to get up to 10 of them. However, if my back starts hurting I am to stop! My Man can’t wait till my back starts to hurt.

Today’s Shout Outs!

Jaime- Love the shirt! Love the goodies and the Yummy oil! (I just smelled my wrist)

Tia- Thank you for the lovely scarf!

Carol- Love the card and thank you for B&N gift card!!

Alison- Love the scarf and Blue Monkey! I will do my best to make sure he doesn’t end up like Timber’s Blue Monkey

Pool and Birthday updates…

Happy Saturday!

I hope you are all having a great morning. We here at Hotel Yorba are having a great day so far. We got some good news on Wednesday afternoon. Bob, our pool guy, called and told us that they were going to be able to do the pebble-tec on Thursday and Friday. They got here at 7:30am on Thursday and were done before noon on Friday. It looks great!!

My Man and I are very happy with it. Can I tell you how excited I am that we are now filling the pool with water? Can I tell you how I am not excited to get the water bill? We started filling the pool on Friday afternoon and it is still going! I think it will take till Sunday to finish the filling the pool and then we have to fill the jacuzzi. Like I said, not looking forward to the water bill.

So my big birthday is on Monday. I will be turning the big 40!! Woot! Woot! My Man gave me my gift early on Friday night. Isn’t it pretty?! Love it! It is all shiny and it sparkles. I am such a girl.IMG_2288

This morning we woke up early and went downtown for breakfast. We had to get to the jewelry store, Worthmore Jewelry, where My Man got the watch, so they could take some links out. While we were there, we had our rings cleaned and I gave them my older Tag to get serviced and cleaned.

IMG_2290

While out and about, we found a bakery and bought some challah bread so that My Man and The Boy can make me french toast tomorrow morning! We also bought a loaf of olive bread. I can’t wait to dig into that! The boy also got two cookies and ate them…it was 9:45am!

IMG_2289Tonight my boys are taking me out to The Optimist for my birthday dinner. I will make sure to take some pictures and post them. It now 11:30am and I am going to go check on the water level of the pool and then hang out with The Girls before it starts raining. Oh! While checking out the garden yesterday, look what I found!
