The $75.89 pill…

Reader’s!

IMG_3945

This is what a $75.89 pill looks like. I thought it would be bigger. And Orange. And Glow in the dark. Nope. Looks like an average pill. Let’s hope it doesn’t work like an average pill but like a SUPER pill.

IMG_3944

I got my pills around 11am today and took my four. I am to take them all at once (much easier) and on an empty stomach. So far I feel ok. My head is a bit fuzzy but I forgot to take my allergy pills and even though we have had a lot of rain over the past few days, the pollen is still out there.

Birthday

The Boy’s Birthday is coming up this month. Truth be told, The Boy has too much stuff as it is. I always get him clothes, he needs those but I really don’t want to by him stuff that he will forget about in a months time. So this morning I came up with an idea. The Boy loves animals, especially cute ones (who doesn’t?!). Recently I came across Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary in Australia. They take in hurt and abandoned farm animals and provide them a home and healthcare. In some cases they adopt them out. On the site they have a page where you can “sponsor” an animal on the farm. I took a look and have found the perfect one for The Boy for his birthday. Reader’s! Meet Boots!

Boots!

Isn’t he the cutest thing ever?! Make sure you take a look at his video on the website. He jumps around like a jumping bean! I also love his sweater. I wish we could bring him home. Aidan will get a Welcome packet and then will be sent updates on Boots via e-mail for the year. I hope they send some pictures of him in his sweater with his friends! Such a cutie!

If you go checkout the website take a look at Little Miss Sunshine. She is a super smart Chicken. Check out her video.

I am happy that the weekend is almost here. I am planning on adding Zazzles and Terry Pete to the big coop and run permanently. My fingers are crossed. Zazzles and Terry Pete have gotten the hang of roosting and if they need to, they can hop up and get away from Turbo and Poppy. Hopefully they will get use to each other soon.

It was a lovely weekend…

Reader’s!

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty good. The weather was so nice. On Saturday I went to Lowes and got some tomato plants, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, okra and peppers to plant in the garden.

Yes, I have three different tomato “cages” that I am using. I have been collecting them over the past few years. I just got the ones with the bamboo sticks. This summer I will see which ones work out best.

I also cleaned out the nesting boxes in the coop. I got rid of all the used hay, sprayed them down with water and then let them dry in the sun. Then I let Zazzles and Terrance Peterson out into the main run. The meeting of the young hens and older hen’s went ok. Poppy and Turbo pecked at them a little bit. They were mainly interested in eating and drinking Zazzles and Terrance Peterson’s food and water. Today Aidan and I once again let them out again and I was able to hold Zazzles and Terrance Peterson for a bit. They are so cute! I then put them both on the highest roosting bar to try out.

Hi!

Hi!

They did great! They stayed up there for about 10 minutes or so. Then they both flew off and landed on Poppy and Turbo. They didn’t like that too much. I plan on letting them mix together over the next few days. Hopefully by this weekend they will have gotten use to each other and will be ready to live together.

On Sunday we spent the day with friends and had a wonderful time and dinner. Although I have a lot on my mind, I had a wonderful weekend. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I want to thank you all for your prayers and good vibes. They really mean a lot to me and my family.

Today I filled out an application for co-pay assistance for my medication. The pills cost around $8,500.00 a month. My deductible is around $1,500.00. The special pharmacy suggested we fill out the application so we did. After My Man and I talked about it we decided that if we do get the assistance, we would donate the money we saved to the Winship Cancer Institute. There are a lot of people out there who need co-pay assistance more than we do, so it is the least we can do. Drugs can be $$$!

Spring Cleaning for The Majestic

Good Day Reader’s!

Are you as happy as I am that it is Saturday Caturday? I hope so! It was nice to sleep in a bit. I was up at 8am to go let The Girls out of their coop. There have been coyote sighting around the neighborhood the last few weeks and I have been worrying about them. I have been making sure to lock them up nice and tight at night.

Way to go Turbo!

Way to go Turbo!

To say that they were ready to come out was an understatement. As Timber and I walked up to The Majestic, you could hear them chattering. Yesterday when I went to check for eggs I found two!! Turbo is now laying again. I had been asking her when she was going get off her butt and get back to work. I guess she just likes to make me wait. Another good thing is that she too is now laying in the nesting boxes. So proud of my Girls. It is time for me to do a little early spring cleaning in The Majestic. I am going to get more straw and sand for them. Since they like the sleep inside the nesting boxes, they are going to need to be freshened up more than usual.

My Man, hard a work.

My Man, hard a work.

After we grabbed some lunch at Antico Pizza, we headed to Lowes and I bought supplies for the coop/run. My Man was nice enough to hang a sign my mother-in-law had sent me a few years ago. It was in our kitchen but this morning I took at look at it thought it needed to be hung on the Majestic.

The Boy and I then got to work spreading the straw around the run and cleaning out the coop. The girls went crazy with all the new straw in the run. I think they will be busy all day scratching away at it.

Did I mention how nice it outside today? It is in the 60’s and the sun is out. I may even open the screened in porch for the cats so they can enjoy the birds and the smell of spring. I hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday. Be Good! Be Safe!

Ice, Ice, Baby….

Reader’s!

georgia_radarThere be ice out there! I just came in from opening The Majestic to let the girls out. When I looked outside I thought it had been snowing. Once Timber and I made it outside I realized that it wasn’t snow, it was hail that has accumulated on the ground! Right now it is very crunchy to walk on and I was able to make it up to the coop with no problem. Timber was so excited! You can see the ice already accumulating on the trees and the branches are starting to hang low. The lock on The Majestic was iced over but I was able to crack it and get inside. The girls came out and didn’t know what to think! I am sure the hail bouncing off the tin roof of the coop was freaking them out. Sounds a little different from rain.

Timber and I headed out a few hours later to take some pictures. It is defiantly icy out there! I don’t know if I will be heading out there again for a while. The temperature is dropping and actual snow should start falling around 6pm.

The girls were very chatty when I went back to check on them. The run is staying pretty dry so I think they will be ok today. Panny is enjoying looking out the window and wishing she could check the ice/snow out.

School has been cancelled for tomorrow. We are bunkered in and won’t be heading out today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Don’t tell Panny or Simon but we are running out of cat food!!

Done! Done! Done!

Hey Reader’s!

Yummy Iron Horse!

Yummy Iron Horse!

So I am done! Done! Done! Done! Tuesday was my last radiation treatment. I went in and the techs were so excited for me. After I got zapped, I got two big hugs from them. I thanked them for being so nice to me, for not minding when I came straight from the gym (stinky) and for being so kind to The Boy. I then went and thanked the ladies at the front desk. They had been so nice to me. I then got to ring the last treatment bell. Everyone clapped and cheered for me. I had to hold back tears but when I got in my car, I just cried. I called My Man and left a voice mail telling him I was all done and that I was crying ( I think he had figured that one out) and did he want anything from Costco.  I guess I was just so happy to be done with it all. It was like the world had been lifted from my shoulders and I could not stop the tears.

That night My Man and I celebrated with a bottle of Iron Horse. And on Wednesday, I caught a cold. I mean really?? One day off radiation and I get sick? That is why I did not post anything last night. I went back to work on Wednesday but by the evening I felt like shit. My Man even alluded to (in the nicest way possible) that I in fact I looked like shit! I was in bed and asleep by 8:30pm.

Nose bleed

Nose bleed

As I am writing this, my nose is bleeding. Second one in two days. UGH! I think it is all due to the crazy weather we have been having. One day it is 8, three days later 62 and now back to the 30’s and 40’s. My sinus’ are not happy!

The Majestic

Last week The Girls had the roof on the run extended and they are loving it. I am too. No more ruined food and wet, soggy run when it rains.

"I Love it!"

“I Love it!”

I have been thinking about what kind of chickens I will get soon. I am looking for two girls who are near the size of Turbo and Poppy and who are not too aggressive. I do not want to make Turbo mad, she is the head hen and needs to stay that way. I want a good layer and non broody hen.

Any suggestions?

Damn!

Damn Reader’s!!! It is cold out there!!

We woke up to 6 degree weather here in the ATL. The sun is out, so it will hopefully warm up a bit. I was able to get The Girls into the cat carriers last night. I would like to say it was easy but then I would be lying! The Boy was in charge of getting Timber locked into our room while I brought them in. I wish I had been able to take a picture of Panny’s face when I came inside with them. She was like “What the…”

We placed them into our bathroom in the basement facing each other. They usually sleep on top of each other so I felt a little bad that they had to sleep separated last night but at least they could see each other.

This morning we woke up bright and early to bring Timber to the vet for his annual wellness check up. Me and The Boy (school was cancelled!) got Timber into the car early and drove to the vet. When we got there they weren’t even open yet so we hung out in the warm car.

Waiting in the warm car for the vet to open.

Timber did a wonderful job at the vet. He got a mani/pedi while he was there. He gained 1.5 pounds since June. Oh No! We discussed changing his food and lowering the amount of treats he has been getting. He got four shots and didn’t bat an eye. I was so proud! When we cam home, The Boy and I woke The Girls up and took them outside. It is still cold but the wind isn’t bad and the sun is out. We had to give them more water (which I put in the coop) since all of their water was frozen. I will monitor them today and see how they do in the weather.

I hope everyone is staying warm. I just keep thinking about Saturday when the high will be 63 degrees out! Of course it wall raining but whatever….

I see snow flurries…

Reader’s!!! It is snowing here in the ALT! I see flurries outside my home office window. Currently the temperature is 26 degrees and falling. By 6pm it will 18 out. Needless to say, we are having two guests checking in to Hotel Yorba tonight. Turbo and Poppy are coming inside! This will be the first time we are bringing them in. We are going to put them into our old hard shell cat carriers and have them sleep in the basement. I hope it all goes well.

Speaking of The Girls, my father-in-law suggested that The Boy and I work on a sign for The Majestic, since I was annoyed with the shipping costs with the ones I found on Esty. This made me remember the chicken art that The Boy made a few years ago with his aunt GiGi.

Miss Chick!

Miss Chick!

Yesterday morning, I found the chicken art, got a hammer and nails and Timber and I went out to wake up The Girls and put up Miss Chick. I think it looks great!

IMG_3462

The sign we are going to make will go on the outside of the coop above the nesting box (which the girls sleep in, not lay eggs in) door. We still have some wood from the building of the coop that I plan on using, I just need to cut it down to size. I am not sure what I will do yet…any suggestions? Be warned…I am not crafty.

This is the last day of winter vacation for The Boy. I don’t think he is ready to go back to school but I am! We are heading out to the hospital (six more treatments to go) and then will come home for lunch and I have a 1pm conference call. The Boy asked if we could go to the gym afterwards. I am so pleased that he is getting into working out.

What are your plans this Monday? Are you snowed in? Or is it a same old Monday?
